Professor Andrew Taggart Scholarship

In honour of Professor Andrew Taggart’s distinguished service to Murdoch University, the Vice Chancellor would like to offer this scholarship to students who intend on enrolling / commencing study in Semester 1, 2019.

Professor Taggart has been a passionate campaigner for all things Murdoch and an inspirational leader throughout his 10 years at the University. He is best-known for championing the recruitment of low SES and First in Family students to our University.






Opens: Monday 1st October, 2018
Closes: Monday 4th March, 2019 4:00pm (Australian WST)


Two $2,500 instalments in Week 7 or 8 of Semester 1 and Semester 2.


To apply for this scholarship you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident or Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander.
  • A school leaver with a minimum ATAR of 75.
  • Be enrolled or intending to enrol in full-time undergraduate study at Murdoch University in Semester 1, 2019.
  • Be in financial and/or personal hardship.
  • Be enrolled full time (at least 9 credit points), or have exceptional reasons for studying part-time or external
  • Residing in any of the following regions: City of Rockingham; City of Kwinana; City of Mandurah; City of Armadale; City of Serpentine/Jarrahdale; City of Cockburn
  • First in Family to attend University.
  • Demonstrate community or school leadership.
  • Demonstrated passion for a course at Murdoch University.

3 Email the following documents to
  • Completed application form
  • A personal statement of no more than 300 words, outlining who they are, why they are studying their particular course and what their aspirations are.
  • Evidence of personal
  • Financial hardship (e.g. Payslips, Tax Notice of Assessment or Centrelink Income Statement)
