Murdoch Senate Bursary

The Murdoch Senate Bursary has been developed to assist students who are facing financial and/or personal hardship with some of the costs associated with studying at Murdoch University.

Both commencing and continuing students who are facing personal/financial hardship are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.

Open: Monday 30 September, 2019
Closes: Sunday 01 March,  2020


Two $1,500 instalments, after Week 7 or 8, of each semester


To apply for this scholarship you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Be enrolled at Murdoch in your first undergraduate course, or enrolled in a Graduate Diploma of Education
  • Be in financial and/or personal hardship
  • Be enrolled full time (at least 9 credit points), or have exceptional reasons for studying part-time or external
  • Students commencing nursing in S2 who are only enrolled in 2 units (6 credit points)  are eligible to apply.

This Bursary has been put in place by the Murdoch University Senate as an initial payment to assist students who are in short term personal and/or financial hardship and is not intended to cover students for the entire duration of their degree.


Preference will be given to those students who have not been awarded the Bursary previously.

How to apply

1 Download and save the application form.
2 Complete the form and save it under your name.
3 Email the following documents to
  • Completed application form
  • A personal statement of no more than 300 words: please include the personal and/or financial hardship you are facing and how the scholarship will assit you to be successful in your studies
  • Evidence of financial hardship (e.g.  Tax Notice of Assessment or Centrelink Income Statement)

What happens next?

All applications are ranked against each other in a careful assessment of the information provided in the application form. Please ensure that you submit all of the required documentation and contact the Student Financial Support Office if you have any questions.
