NTEU Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Scholarship

The NTEU Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Scholarship was established to support and encourage Undergraduate Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students who demonstrate a commitment to community, across the various different stages of their degree.

3 scholarships are available in the folllowing categories:

  • first year student, or
  • final year /honours students, or
  • students living / studying in a regional / remote area
Value:

$4,500

Closes:

Open: Monday 1st October 2018
Closes: Monday 4th March 2019, 4.00pm (Australian WST)

Payment:

Subject to the recipients ongoing acceptance and compliance with the terms and conditions, payment will be made in the following installments:

  • $2,250 Week 7 or 8 of Semester 1 and 2
Eligibility:

To be eligible for this scholarship you must: 

  • Be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student
  • Fall into at least one of the student categories below:
    • Be enrolled in a 1st year undergraduate course at any Murdoch University campus; or
    • Be enrolled in a final year /honours at Murdoch University campus; or
    • Be a student living or studying in a regional / remote area while enrolled in a course at Murdoch University campus. 
  • Demonstrate a history of community engagement
  • Maintain continued enrolment as a full-time student in the course.

Continued payment (second instalment) will be made based on the satisfactory progress of the course of study, in accordance with the academic standards of Murdoch University.

2 Email the following documents to scholarships@murdoch.edu.au
  • Completed application form
  • A personal statement of no more than one A4 page outlining:
    • why you are interested in studying your chosen discipline,
    • how the scholarship will benefit and assist you to achieve their personal goals,
    • academic success and planned career pathway
  • Reference(s) from persons/ organisations suitable to comment on community engagement and activity

All applications are ranked against each other in a careful assessment of the information provided in the application form. Please ensure that you submit all of the required documentation and contact the Student Financial Support Office if you have any questions.
