Dean's Scholarship for Scientific Excellence

The School of Engineering and Information Technology will be awarding multiple scholarships valued at up to $20,000 each to domestic applicants commencing an Undergraduate course, located in the School of Engineering and Information Technology (listed here), who demonstrate a pursuit for scientific excellence.

Undergraduate
Scholarships are competitively awarded to students commencing a Murdoch University Undergraduate degree and major offered by the School of Engineering and Information Technology (as shown on the application form), with either an ATAR of 92+ and above, or equivalent exceptional performance in any STEM discipline prior to applying to Murdoch University.

Multiple scholarships are available.
Value:
  • $15,000 for students completing a three-year Science or Information Technology degree
  • $20,000 for students completing a four-year Engineering degree
Closes:

Monday 5th March 2018, 4.00pm (Australian WST).
Payment:

Subject to the terms and conditions of the award being met, throughout the scholarship recipients study at Murdoch University, the award is paid in either six or eight equal instalments of $2,500 (depending on length of degree) directly to the successful recipient's nominated bank account over three consecutive calendar years.

In other words, for those who commence their study in Semester 2 of 2017:

  • The first instalment will be paid after the Semester 2 2017 census date;
  • The second instalment will be paid after the Semester 1 2018 census date;
  • The third installment will be paid after the Semester 2 2018 cencus date and so on.
Eligibility:

To be eligible for the award, applicants must:

  • Be a domestic student;
  • Study full time at Perth campus;
  • Have a West Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) or equivalent;
  • Have received an ATAR score of 92+ or equivalent result within the last 18 months from the
    closing date of the award; and
  • Have applied to study a course specialising in one of the majors offered by the School of
    Engineering and Information Technology (see list on application form).

In addition to the Scholarship amount, students interested in research will be paired with an Academic mentor for the duration of their study and will have access to a further $3,000. This can be put towards travel or costs associated with research.

  • Honours Studies (except engineering)
  • Courses located outside the School of Engineering and Information Technology

Email the following documents to scholarships@murdoch.edu.au

  • Completed application form
  • A personal statement explaining your interest in the area you intend on studying and how the scholarship will assist you (no more than two A4 pages)
  • Provide predicted ATAR score (if applying before ATAR results are known) and be endorsed by the School, Principal or authorising person
  • Provide a list of WACE subjects or equivalent
  • Provide a copy of Year 11 results or equivalent

What happens next?

Applicants will be assessed based on the published eligibility criteria. If the number of eligible applications exceeds the number of awards that can be granted, award applicants will be ranked and awards made based on highest ATAR scores or IB equivalents in the first instance and then by recommended subjects followed by English competence levels.
