WBGA Barley Industry Scholarships

The Western Barley Alliance is a joint venture between Murdoch University and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. There are three fantastic Honours scholarships available for students who are studying in plant genetics, molecular genetics, molecular biology or genomics.


Three scholarships are available


$4,500; consisting of 3 payments of $1,500


Open: Monday 30 September, 2019
Closes: Sunday 01 March 2020


Subject to the ongoing acceptance and compliance with the terms and conditions of the scholarship, payment will be made in the following installments:

  • $1,500 in week 7 or 8 of each semester;
  • $1,500 upon the successful submission, and grading of your Honours thesis.

To apply for this scholarship you must:

  • Intend to enrol full-time in the relevant Bachelor of Science (Hons.) courses (Biology, Crop/Pasture Science, Molecular Biology or Biotechnology) in the College of Science Health Engineering and Education.
  • Have a record of high achievement in previous studies or professional work; and
  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • A written reference from a person qualified to comment on either your academic studies or current or past employment
  • University Transcript if you completed your undergraduate degree at a different university (not Murdoch)
