IMO Extractive Metallurgy Scholarship

The purpose of the “IMO Extractive Metallurgy Scholarship” is to support and encourage students to study Extractive Metallurgy and to work in the industry, specialising as a Metallurgist.

Payment:

Two instalments of $2,500 in week 7 or 8 of Semester 1 and Semester 2, 2020

Eligibility:

To apply for this scholarship you must:

  • Be enrolled full-time in a Bachelor of Engineering Honours in Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering at Murdoch University
  • Be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
  • Have a credit average Grade Point Average (GPA) or Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 55 and in satisfactory academic standing
  • Be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported place at Murdoch University

  • Completed application form
  • A personal statement of no more than two A4 pages describing why you should be the successful applicant for this scholarship
  • Two reference letters (preferably one Academic and one character)

All applications are ranked against each other in a careful assessment of the combination of each of these criteria:

  • Academic achievement.
  • Community involvement.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Financial need & benefits.
  • Personal essay (attitude and willingness to learn).
  • Personal values (i.e. Resilient, adaptable, flexible, use of initiative and availability to travel for career opportunities).

The scholarship winner must:

  • Maintain a full time enrolment of at least 9 credit points per semester in the course that they received the offer of the scholarship at Murdoch University.
  • Achieve a satisfactory standard of academic progress. Students must maintain an average Grade Point Average (GPA).
  • Pass all units attempted.

The outcome of the application will be advised by email and no further correspondence will be entered into.
