Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

If you are applying for or receiving assistance under the William D. Ford Direct Loans Program, you must progress satisfactorily towards completion of a chosen academic program.

Murdoch University is required by US Federal law (34CFR 668.16) to define and enforce standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). The guidelines have been established to encourage students to complete successfully academic programs for which aid is received.

Your progress will be evaluated at the end of each semester based on your academic standing and a maximum timeframe for completion.

Leave of Absence

Students who apply for Approved Leave from their studies must also apply for a Federal Aid Leave of Absence (LoA).  The outcome of your Federal Aid LoA appliction will determine whether you are  reported as ‘withdrawn’ to the US Department of Education, even if your enrolment status at Murdoch University is LoA.  This will influence when your "Grace Period" commences and when you need to commence loan repayments.
